Alex McMillan is an educator and creative professional currently serving as a High School Tech Coach in Shanghai. With over 13 years in education and 4 years in commercial photography and advertising, Alex brings a unique blend of experiences to his work. He’s the co-author of “Designing for Understanding” and “Saigon Artbook,” both available for free on Apple Books.
Alex’s passion for education technology, design, and emergent technologies led him to a pivotal moment at a conference in Hong Kong. During a conversation led by Holly Clark, the concepts found on this site were born. This spark ignited the development of graphics, which subsequently evolved into the comprehensive AI Guide, AI cards, and teacher-facing presentations about writing with AI.
As an international educator who has lived in Asia for over 17 years, Alex is actively leading his school in exploring the possibilities of this technology while also working as an educational consultant, helping other schools create their own guidance around Generative AI.
Alex regularly speaks at conferences such as 21 Century Learning HK, ISTE, Vietnam Tech Conference, and others.
